You will be bouncing in your seat, if not dancing in the aisles on this evening of some of the most rhythmically riveting music ever written. The violins, violas and cellos appear in concertos written for each of their instruments. |

Karl Kraber, flute; Stephen Girko, clarinet; Stephen Redfield and Beth Girko, violins; Joan Kalisch, viola: Douglas Harvey, cello A mixed bag of music that engages your aural sense continuously. Kuhlau’s enchanting melodies for flute and strings are followed by Kodaly’s folkloristic improvisational Hungarian-flavored music. Piazzola adds another dimension of rhythmic strength, and Brahms, in one of his last compositions, shows the master at his absolute best.

Thomas Hale, horn; Karl Kraber, flute; Jessica Mathaes and Elise Winters, violins; Joan Kalisch, viola; Douglas Harvey, cello; David Dawson, bass; Dan Welcher, conductor A sandwich of the traditional with a contemporary filling - every piece, totally engaging music. David Chaitkin, who has won an award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters among his many honors, wrote this work for Karl Kraber with a National Endowment for the Arts grant. We have chosen to surround his music with two favorite composers, Mozart and Dvorak. |
