Baroque Inspired

Handel: Concerto Grosso Opus 6, number 5

Mendelssohn: Capriccio for string orchestra

Telemann: Concerto for 2 flutes and strings

Bloch: Concerto Grosso for piano and strings

Our conductor-less chamber orchestra celebrates music of Baroque composers and music inspired by Baroque composers: three centuries of continuity in the style and form of the Baroque masters. Leader and concertmaster of the orchestra is Stephen Redfield, with soloists Gregory Allen, Karl Kraber and Rita Linard.

The Great Masters

J.S.Bach: Cantata 209,  Non sa che sia dolore

Mozart: Piano Concerto

Dvorak: Quintet for 2 violins, 2 violas, cello

Well-known Austin soprano, Kathlene Ritch, is featured in the Bach Cantata. The Mozart Concerto will be performed by Gregory Allen.

A Tribute to Schubert

Haydn: Trio for flute, cello and piano
                                   
Harbison: Piano Quartet: “November 19, 1828”                        
Schubert: Quintet for 2 violins, viola and 2 cellos

Schubert’s masterpiece, the famous “cello” quintet is matched with a piece that John Harbison has written as a memorial to Schubert who died on November 19, 1828. Joining Chamber Soloists are Austin Lyric Opera concertmaster Stanislav Pronin, and New York cellist Eric Jacobsen.

Music from Four Centuries

Mozart: Sinfonia Concertante, K448 2 flutes and piano

Schulhoff: String sextet

Wechsler: “Lucky 13” for 2 flutes and 2 horns

Brahms: Piano Trio in C

Opening the program is the Mozart Sonata for Two Pianos in D major that has been transcribed into a sparkling chamber piece for 2 flutes and piano. Sandwiched between Mozart and Brahms are two enjoyable and unusual pieces that you will not have heard before. Composer-performer David Wechsler and Karl Kraber will be the flutists.
